Dentist Appointment

dnpanicmix2Hey all. Sorry I couldn't get to more questions. As I said before, I just kind of go down and answer at random. Good point FreAk. Should we all just go with the 98 tempo idea? Might make things easier. Let's settle on that then. We can see how far we can go with what we have and if it doesn't work out, we can go to plan b and decide on a program that we all use. It should work out though. Has everyone seen this? This guy is really funny. Anyway, I hope you are all well and once again, thank you for your support, interest, sharing and ideas.

1. I've always wondered if Celebrities get crazy people coming to their house and never leaving them alone (obvisouly). Do you and Carmen get people like that?

We really have not had to deal with that. It has happened in the past at my old house, but apart from the uncomfortable, "you gotta go" talk, the experiences were at their core, nice enough.

2. hey man, i was wondering what amp and what setup you have been using for those smaller jam sessions your new band has been doin.

Pretty much the same thing with a half stack instead of two fulls. Marshal JCM 900, wah, chorus, delay, octaver and the white PRS.

3. I was just wondering if you are drug and alcohol free, is it cool with other people doing stuff around you? And does Carmen like to have a drink now and then?

Yeah, I'm cool with it, provided a needle doesn't come out. Yes, Carmen does drink every now and again. All good.

4. Did you have a practice routine when you were younger and coming up?

Not really a routine, I just played a lot.

5. Just read on imdb.com that Carmen is thinking of getting a breast reduction. It also quotes her as saying "he (you) actually wants me to get them bigger but I said no". True or false?

Ha! I said it, but I was of course, joking! I back whatever she wants.

6. I have often wondered, for someone who is "drug free" how do you handle it if you go to the Doctor and they prescribe drugs (which mine seem to LOVE to do!)?

As long as it doesn't mess with me from the neck up, I'm cool. Antibiotics - yes, Xanax - no.

7. Just wondering, Dave, do you sleep in your nipple rings, or take them out before you go to bed?

They stay in at all times. They are not so easy to take in and out.

8. Do you ever visit fansites & stuff like that about you &/or Carmen, or is it a little too strange?

Well, I look at the Carmen pages more than the Dave ones. I guess I am just a bigger fan of hers.

9. Hey Dave. What's the best way to get rid of unwanted chest hair?

Wax or trim. DO NOT SHAVE.

10. hey, Dave! could You tell something about Your cooperation with Andy Dick?

He is just the funniest mother f@#$er! He is really great and I have known him for years. Perk and I stopped by the set of The Assistant and had a blast. That should be on in a few weeks.

Hey Dave.
I just bought Nothing's Shocking.
You are now officially (at the moment) my No. 1 favorite guitarist. You've been putting pressure on James Williamson of The Stooges for a while!
I was wondering what do you think of System Of A Down?

Hi There Dave,
Grew up enjoying you're music.Thank You.Was really a fan of the pairing of Kettle>Obvious back in the 80's...hot stuff. But hey, I've got a question. What are you're thoughts on PHISH and how do you feel about TREY'S guitar work?
Keep rockin' Dave, here's to the future.

Hey Dave,
I pierced my boyfriend's nipple a couple months ago with 18 gauge rings and he was going to strech them once they heeled, but they got infected and had to be taken out. We're going to try it again, but this time he wants to pierce them at a higher gauge instead of streching them. So, we were wondering, what gauge are your nipple rings because that looks like a good size to aim for.

Hi Dave. Thanks for answering my question about the fansites. I watched Carmen's Biography on A&E last night & it was really good. I loved the comment you made about Nick & Jessica. That was too funny! ;o) I also saw MTV's First Ever Reality Awards Show. I was really glad Carmen got "Pause-worth Female". I just wish y'all could've gotten the "Best Kiss" one, as well as the others you were nominated for. That would've been awesome. Well, take care & have a great day. I gotta go fix my 3 year old niece a peanut button sandwich before she gets mad. LOL! Speaking of which, if you'd ever like to see her website it's at http://nini-boochie.com/sheridan :o)

Loved the link, heres a little giggle for you all.

The new priest is nervous about hearing confessions, so he asks the older priest to sit in on his sessions. The new priest hears a couple of confessions, then the old priest asks him to step out of the confessional for a few suggestions.

The old priest suggests,"Cross your arms over your chest, and rub your chin with one hand....and try sayings things like"yes, I see," and "yes, go on," and "I understand."

The new priest crosses his arms, rubs his chin with one hand and repeats all the suggested remarks to the old priest. The old priest says, "Now, don't you think that's a little better than slapping your knee and saying, "No s#!t...what happened next?"

Dave...
About your 'spread' horse theme/logo...
there is an element of your soloing that whenever i hear it, I have always clearly seen
wild horses running toward me, going crazy, screaming
(heard it building on the Jane's albums but its really peaking on the deconstruction cd)...
is there a relationship between the two?

ha! this site is the hotness! i think it's great that you're interested in answering questions and keeping everyone updated on your thoughts, ect. on a regular basis. love it.

i just wanted to say that i'm really glad you and carmen agreed to kind of "put your story out there" via TDDUP. generally i find myself pretty disinterested with anything related to the personal lives of celebrites, but there is something about you and carmen that just radiates and it's incredibly inspirational to see love like that. it's so rare to see a match as seemingly perfect as you two. thanks for being such a positive example of how wonderful finding that other person to complete you can be. much love to your both!

Re: the FAQ page...at first blush I thought that was a really good idea but, I do wonder...if people don't even take the time to read just Dave's posts before asking the same questions over and over again...I don't know that they would bother with the FAQ page either...just a thought.

Maybe if there was one on this blog somewhere so it was only one click away instead of two...but, somehow I kinda doubt it.

Dave could link direct to it if he wants. I have no probs with that. But I think you are right. I do tech support for a living and I can vouch for how many people read the manual before they call in with a question.

Oh well... i am sure there will be more oportunity to expand my website.

White Pony

I like your site and your lyrics.
How's the riffs going?

Also thanks to your site's links, I'm going to see John Frusciante play Great American Music hall in SF tonight with the guy from Nue! Michael Rother. I have a reissue of their first album and it's really cool jammy stuff.
Since so many people here like JF
I thought I'd let you guys know.
Also they're playing the knitting factory in LA tomorrow.

Not sure what it's going to sound like, but I bet it'll be interesting.

Hey Dave, was this supposed to be the original track listing for One Hot Minute?

Aeroplane
Stretch
My Friends
Warped
One Hot Minute
Coffee Shop
Pea
One Big Mob
Deep Kick
Tearjerker
Walkabout
Shallow Be Thy Game
Falling Into Grace
Blender

And if so, what happened to Blender? I've read in magazine articles before that album came out about it, so where did it go?

Sarasswati,

The riff took a new form into something that didn't really float well over the drum loop. I am hoping to get back to it tonight. I am trying to find a good drone riff to sit with it. Aslo i am waiting for the loop to be taken to 98bpm which is the decided tempo before i get to set on anything. My intro i think is pretty killer. I am having trouble playing it at the speed i want. I broke my left index finger mt biking a few years back and its tough for me to get it to do what i want sometime.

but i will keep chugging away.

Posted by: WhitePony at August 4, 2004 03:56 PM

I will go ahead and answer the question about dave's rings....

Dave's are at 10 gauge... and damn are they huge. I have 16 guage in mine (tiny nipples though) I would not recommend piercing anything larger than a 14g. If he has monsterous nipples maybe 12... but 10 requires a stretch in every case I have seen. My nipples can simply not handle anything above a 14 so I haven't streched mine at all.

My recomendation is the throw down the 60 bucks to get both of them done somewhere clean. That was one of the worst pains i have ever felt, and if they would have been infected i would have whooped someone's ASS!

Posted by: Teri at August 4, 2004 06:04 PM

Regarding the nipple piercing... gotta agree with White Pony on this. Mine were done at home with an IV catheter (don't even ask... LOL)... worst pain I ever felt and I would have been seriously pissed if they'd gotten infected. Also have to agree about stretching vs piercing at 10g... I'm currently stretching from a 16g to a 12... may go for the 10g myself, but I'll decide that when I get to 12g.

Dave... Lovin' the new ink, bro. Seriously wanting a pair of those leather pants, too... and the link was hilarious!

Also... on the unwanted chest hair thing... gotta put in a vote for the waxing option. LOL And if you don't want to go have it done... you might want to check out something called NADS for Men (I know... I hear the snickers... LOL) But seriously, it's nowhere near as messy as wax, you can't burn yourself with it, and it tends to hurt less than wax (and there's an instructional CD-ROM for those who need it).

Off to check the new bios, 'cause I'm curious like that...

Peace,
Tim

man, dave you seem to be everywhere. i just came to check the new posts, and as the site was loading, i turned around to see what my cd player was doing (it was changing cds, it rotates them) and as i turn around, it switches to Pne Hot Minute, and starts the intro to warped. At that moment, i look at the muted tv, and you & perk were were doing some of your commentary for I Love the 90's. So you were on my tv, stereo, and computer at the same time.

i personally have always loved that "i'm better than your kids site" i'm not a huge fan of kids (please don't hate me...i just don't really have the patience...and i just know that about myself). that site always cheers me up no matter what!

i agree that dave was totally gipped of the best shirtless male award...his upper body is RIPPED and totally hot (as well as the whole face area and the rest of teh body). it's not like mtv really has a brain anyway. i'm just glad they had sense enough to put dave and carmen on a show (and glad dave and carmen decided to do it) cause it actually gave me a newfound hope in terms of relationships, cause for a while i had gotten cynical and bitter (so thanks dave for helping me through that)

just wanted to do my daily post lol...and say that everything and everyone here rocks...especially dave. have a great day/evening everyone!

Ok its 11:50 and i have finally written something complete. after a nearly on year drought here are the rough lyrics to.

The Climb (with hope)
-----------------------------------------
I've walked miles on shattered dreams
body fallen, tattered and torn
swam upward in countless streams
my heart left broken and scorn

Climbin waward up pale white walls
searching to find my way back home
standing lost looking for a sign
waiting for the first person to cast a stone

Misunderstood and feared by the masses
but I continue to climb with hope
not sure what the top may bring
maybe nothing but somewhere else lost

Just may be with a little help
I can find where i am meant to be
mabye somone can silence my screams
Someon just to listen to my final plea

Then again maybe it will be
just a new place to fall back down
a cold dark cave to hide away
where no one will hear a sound

In the climb was a shred of hope
maybe the unseen angel will come
please come to take me home
please come lay me to rest
so the new can be born from the fire and ashes

Please give me some feed back on this.

been in a similar situation myself. (having lived in a lot in places, including CA and NJ and NYC) go back to NY, if you miss it, and dislike where you are.
Personally, I'd say go back to the NY area ASAP, why the need to wait for NYU to let you in?Can you go back before then? Go to a different school there for a while?
Stay with friends, family?

In terms of intensity and beauty in music, Jeff Buckley for me stands right next to JA. What do you think of his music? (Apparently, one of his last songs he listened to when he drowned was 'Three Days')

Luiz what is a cricket bow?
Whitepony thats some cracking lyrics that you have written might need a bit of tweaking in parts although I am no expert on these matters.

As for the FAQ I think it may be a good idea as some q's keep coming up I'll give you a hand with it if you like just drop me a line Whitepony.

Dave, Beatles or Rolling Stones?

hey all. if any of you have nipple piercing questions or piercing questions, you can send the questions my way if you would like? i used to be a body piercer. iv had my nipple piercings for 3 years. its best to get the nipple piercings done standard size and then stretch them when they heal. If the piercing is done properly it should take 6-8weeks to heal. nipple piercings heal quite quickly! and generally, nipple piercings are more painful for guys than girls because guys and girls generally have the same amount of nerve endings in the nipple its just that guys nipples are usually smaller so the nerve endings are compacted together. well, thats my 2 cents worth. anyway, stay well everyone

haha it's so funny that we're on a dave navarro website, and people can't recognize janes lyrics... and by the way Three Days is genius. It's like janes stairway to heaven, in a sense.

anyway, looking forward to the g-phobia awards, and they made a great choice of hosts, because you two are the only reason why i even know what the g-phobia awards are...

rock on dave,

by the way, cricket bows is probably referring to the sound of crickets, because they rub their legs together and it makes that sound at night, i think they are called bows, i have no idea, just what i've always thought...
