Again With The Cards!

pcinbluetonesand6I'm going Vegas again tomorrow... God, I love that town, and then on to Miami. I will be on somewhat of a vacation for a few days. Anyway, I have gotten a little behind so let me kick a few answers tonight and I'll start up again tomorrow. By the way, this does mean that I will be out again for Camp Freddy Radio, but as always, the boys will keep you plenty entertained. Oh, and by the way, it has been reported several times in different places that Carmen and I are doing a sex book. As great as it sounds, it is simply not true. These "sources" must be confused about DTTAH. I am also happy to see that the jam is not lost and forgotten, not to forget how great all the artwork you guys have been sending in has been. I really love this one.

1. Hey Dave, just wondering if you still have that picture of the Vietcong being executed hanging in your home?

No, that was in the old house. It was actually a tribute to the movie, Stardust Memories, where Woody Allen's character had the same image put up in his home after a rough breakup.

2. Dave, I just read that Carmen is writing a book? Is that true?

No, not yet. I don't even think she has any plans to at this time.

3. Firstly is it OK for my band to cover one of your songs off TNO for a school's band night? And if it is, at a later date would you listen too it on the web and give your honest opinion on it?

Of course, I'd love to hear it.

4. By the way, what is up with all the media whore celebrity crap?

It's a long story, but Paris and I made this bet and, well, so far she is in the lead. Seriously, I just enjoy embracing the opportunities that life holds. I'm not much for shying away from things I want to do because of what someone's reaction might be. I enjoy working with people, having experiences and playing music. It's just that simple.

5. Pagan ceremony or traditional wedding?

We went traditional.

6. Dave I was reading in a web pay that it spoke of your book and it says that your you were violated by the man that I raise you. That is truth?

I was held at gunpoint for a while, handcuffed and locked in a closet. Here is the thing, he didn't raise me. He was my mother's boyfriend. I owe my life and my upbringing to her and my father.

7. Dave, have you saved the files from the old 6767.com?

No, I wish I did though. That place was just insane.

8. Do you get nervous before going on stage, and if so how do you deal with it?

No, not really. I get more nervous walking into a dental office.

9. I've seen that Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale of Bush were at your wedding....are you friend with them?

No, they just showed up! Can you believe that? j/k - Gwen and Carmen are friends and I have known Gavin for years. Great couple, sweet and attractive. We were happy they attended.

10. I was wondering if anything in particular in San Francisco inspired Iris?

I think it was just the trip, the time and how we felt being alive and free, roaming the streets...

Goodnight,

Dave

1st comment yay!

I'm going to post this again just because I really want this question answered.

Dave, Why did you leave Cry Myself To Sleep off of TNO? It seems like it would mean a lot to you.

Are you guys going to Miami for the VMAs? I hope I get to watch, I'll be at school by then so who knows how things will be. I hung out with some friends tonight from high school, and in some ways college will be starting things again for me. I love a lot of the people and things from my past, but a lot of stuff needs to go. Strange times in high school for me...but what doesn't kill you makes you stonger. Hard not to have regrets though.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's boyfriend - I really hate to hear about kids treated that way (well anyone treated that way, but kids in particular.) You have a good way of getting past things, I have a much harder time letting go. I'll try to follow your example on that one.

Have a good night family, by Friday I'll be typing from a tiny dorm room.:-)

Dave- When is CPS airing the new season? My husband and I enjoyed watching last time. He is a huge fan of poker and I am a huge fan of yours. It was really fun for the both of us. Can't wait for it to air! Safe journeys- Shawna & Jon-Boy (that's my husband!!)

Hi Dave, Hi 6767 Family! Just got home from having a wonderful, happy Birthday celebration with my other/real-life Family... :D

Dave, do you ever feel like the "Pied Piper"?

I mean, we are all total strangers who come here and ask you bizarre questions (myself included, lol) about life, nutrition, exercise, music, your sex life, your deepest thoughts, what tattoos we should get, etc., etc., etc.,.....does it ever strike you as odd? I just wonder how it makes you feel to be on the receiving end of all of this....I sometimes get a mental image of all of us following behind our "Pied Piper" so to speak.

OK...must be time for me to go to bed ;)

Have a great trip and lots of fun! We'll miss you :)

What about nair? Yes/no/maybe?

If Capital was expecting another release from janes before you broke up, is there any chance at all, at any point, of a live dvd? Did you have any recorded shows? (Three Days & strays dvd only had a few live songs...)

Thanks again Dave.

I have insomnia...my mind is not shutting down so, bear with me peeps :)

My question is regarding tattoos...how is it that they always turn out so well...have any of you ever seen one messed up?

They're drawing free-hand...how is it that they don't come out lop-sided or off center or the tattoo artist doesn't sneeze, or have Dave turn his head abruptly and run into the needle? ;)

I've often wondered...

[it's so nice, he posted it twice...]

Dave, i would like to make a REQUEST.

I think that since most of the people here are heavily influenced by your music, that you should have AT LEAST a weekly "what i'm listening to" list. Top 3. Top 5. Whatever. Hell, even rate them.

I want to be turned on to good new music, and i think you're a GREAT place to start.

Posted by: Six7Six7 at August 25, 2004 11:11 PM

Hi Dave!

Great site! I think it's really cool that you take the time to interact with your fans on here. I got introduced to you and your music being a fan of Carmen and shortly after became a fan of yours as well. As a fellow guitarist, I must say that you rock!

I have a question about Til Death Do Us Part. Do you know when we'll be able to pre-order the DVD from amazon, best buy, etc.? And does it have a release date yet? Can't wait to buy it with all the extras and stuff. Thanks! :)

HI Dave I've just been watching yours and Carmens show and I wanted to let you know how truly wonderful it is to watch you both.My husband and I have been married for 4 years now and we love being married. In a time of quick relationships and divorces it'e comforting to watch two sweet wonderful people as happy as we are.I too had lost a parent at 14 and it's been a long road but worth every moment.I red your Bio and have found lots of similarities so it was comforting to know that your not the only one that felt a certain way.Have a wonderful life together and I hope your show stays on forever(good idea for me but probably not for you haha)

hey guys, ive been back since this afternoon, and had to straighten a few things out upon coming home.

My question is regarding tattoos...how is it that they always turn out so well...have any of you ever seen one messed up?

They're drawing free-hand...how is it that they don't come out lop-sided or off center or the tattoo artist doesn't sneeze, or have Dave turn his head abruptly and run into the needle? ;)

Cori: i am not a tattoo artist, but i feel i have a pretty good idead of how to answer your question. they are in fact not drawing freehand. the artist makes a full size drawing of the tattoo on a special kind of paper that he transfers onto your skin. if you like the placement and everything he goes ahead and starts doing the tattoo. there are many was to fuck up a tattoo, i believe exposing the new tattoo for the sun for a long time fades it quickly, sometimes your skin has a reaction to the ink, so on so forth. i've definatly seen a few tattoos that don't look right, modtly from people getting that cheap tattoo from their buddy's basement. anyway, if i'm wrong on any of this, someone correct me, but that's the answer i can provide.

hope i helped : )

mornin everyone,a much happier day i believe-water pipes fixed, truck back on the road,if anything else goes though anytime soon jus send me to the nuthouse, lol.
Your right Paper about the tats, alot are drawn first on transfer paper then applied to the skin.Alot are also freehand too,it depends on what your getting and the artist comfort level,in the case of mirror imaging like Daves new bats, then Im sure they used a transfer to get the placement correct before inking..check out this site for some incredible tat images: http://www.tattoo.com

Hi Dave,

Chantelle mentioned the old 6767 files, that would be so cool for the newbies to see some of the old 6767 site. I'm sure there are many who missed it. I see you mentioned not saving the files, I'm sure someone out there might have printed the pages out. Would you mind if they were scanned & then posted?

I loved that screaming voice with the 'psycho' line art, who was that person suppossed to be? That drawing & scream always made me laugh. I knew that scream was coming, but sometimes it scared me. lol

Btw, do you still keep in touch with Anna Voog? You should ask Anna to do some stuff for the Panic Channel site. I'm sure Anna could find some unusual place to put the PC logo! ;)

Have fun in Vegas & Miami. Are you & Carmen going to present at the VMAs?

take care,

Hi Deena,

No problem Deena!! Always happy to promote a fellow artist.

Since most of the art posted here seems to be computer generated, I just wanted to remind people that there are actually some 'old school' artists out there in the 6767 community.

I draw & paint also; art high school & art college were a long time ago!! ;) I'm guilty of sending in computer art because I've been too lazy lately to actually get out the art supplies!

Keep that beautiful artwork coming, Deena~~! Btw, Justice Howards photos are very inspirational for any future Dave paintings.

take care,
itanja

All:

Regarding the OLD 6767.com:

You can see older versions of this site back to 1998 by hitting this link(not all pages are there, its slow etc.).

Also regarding, IRIS and San Fran, I have the Jane's live "cover" of it if anyone wants it, from 1989, in SF.

Peace.

Posted by: sonicdeath at August 26, 2004 06:27 AM

Hey Deena.
Regarding Tattoos, I have seen some really good Tats and also really bad ones from the same artist. (He must have sneezed)
Yes when they are first done they look really cool.
Problem is when you have had Tats for as long as I have, (About 32 years) however well you look after them when they are new, they tend to fade and blur quite a lot, the colour tends to vanish completely and the black turns blue.
In saying that, I still do not regret having mine done, and I do not wish to put anyone off.

Posted by: culculun at August 26, 2004 07:13 AM

Hi Schwing,

WOW~~!! Thanks so much for posting the link to your archives of the old 6767, it brought back LOTS of memories! I just remembered that the 'psycho' page had the 'coo-coo' sound, wish I remembered which page had that scream! LOL

The 'chat' link even worked, it led to Chat Planet, not the actual old 6767 'room'. Though I do remember the old chat being hosted by CP.

I'm sure many here will be very excited to explore the old archives.

Thanks again!

Hi Dave 'n' all!

My thanks to Schwing! I've never had a glimpse of the old 6767.com but at a quick glance it seemed nice!

Take it easy in Vegas in terms of gambling, Dave! I know guys who've lost their fortune on fast women and slow horses, so to speak :-)

Ever talked with Peter D. about him maybe joining CF for a song or two? He can do the Stooges and Zeppelin quite nicely, as you know!

I hope you'll have a nice vacation in Miami. I'm heading to Ibiza for a week on monday to relax after a busy summer. Beats chilly Finland, you know!

My best wishes to all of you 6767-people!

Apart from the above, what else do you miss while you are away from home, is there certain places or smells, foods etc?

Time for me to add my 2 cents to a favorite album debate. In no particular order, Keb Darge Presents the New Mastersounds by the New Mastersounds. They're an English band whose music sounds sort of like James Brown at his funkiest. Metallica's Black Album is absolutely killer; every song is an absolute classic. I love both Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia and Come Down by the Dandy Warhols; some of the catchiest, dirtiest pop music you'll ever here. I'll probably get slaughtered for admitting this but Thriller by Michael Jackson is up there too; the title track is what inspiredme to become a bass player. And finally anything by Parliament; George Clinton is just about the strangest, most brilliant musical mind there is. Flashlight is the greatest party song going.

I look forward to everybody disagreeing with me!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dave & Fam,

Is there a tattoo Web gallery for 6767'ers? Shouldn't there be one? It'd be cool to see the ink and read the stories behind them... no? Lemme know... if this needs to be done, I suppose I may have to host it myself.

Is there a library of 6767 family created music somewhere? shouldn't there be one? could we start one?

(repeat question)> the Loops experement page; what are the rules, and how do I upload?

thanks...

Orange~How about Flea as a Bass player? BTW, I LOVE Parliament/Funkadelic.
See I gave a good response!? I agree with that choice. I also love The Dandy Warhols. But I can't give a top 5 or 10 anything, I listen to different things at different times. Personally, I prefer Metallica's "Metallica", yes it was more accessible, but it's great regardless. Go on call me not a diehard Metallica fan! :P
And I got my stories and memories about those things too. Sometimes that makes the music better.

Good Morning All!

Thanks for the great answers to my tattoo question...I have only had 2 tattoos done (one on top of the other) and they were both free-hand so I really didn't know how that worked...I got my first one at the age of 15 then had it covered up when I was about 20-ish....the colors are faded now from too much sun and really in need of a touch up but, just one of those things I never get around to doing. :)

And Tim...thanks so much for the Bday wishes...it's never too late and I really appreciate it!

Hi Dave -
I've been lurking on this site for about a month now. This is such a great site! I think it is so cool of you to make yourself so accessable to your fans. Thank you!
I do have a questions for you...My husband is a bassist. Music is his heart. He recently broke away from his band of 6 years. They made amazing music together, but their relationships with eachother were very abusive. It's all good now, but he is fearful of starting again. How did you do it?
Thanks again Dave, this is great!!

Hi Lisa,

"I still don't know who this Paris Hilton is..."

Count yourself VERY lucky, I still don't know WHY this spoiled braindead heiress is a so-called 'star', she's devoid of any noticable talent.

Perhaps someone here can explain this pre-fab 'media whore' to me? What does Paris Hilton actually DO that anyone should be fan of hers? I'm still clueless as to her 'talent'.

Her profile in the eyes of the public; she's a spoiled, narcissistic, ego-maniac heiress who'll do anything to inflate her own sense of self importance...and..oh yeah....she made a sex tape. The chick also has a rep of not being a very nice person, especially to the 'help', yet she has 'fans'?

Most importantly,(the sex tape aside, as she has stated she didn't release it, her ex boyfriend did)....she DOES seem to put herself out there to be ridiculed by her sheer inane antics & obvious stupidity.

As consumers, we are constantly being programmed & manipulated to think these people, such as Ms Hilton, are 'celebrities' worthy of our attention, clearly many of them are not. Their 15 minutes should have been up before they started. We see them everyday, they are like their own walking adverts to 'buy' them. They love themselves so much & want us to love them too. Sure, there's vanity from having talent OR great beauty, then there's just plain empty vanity.

We never seem to know what they are selling. What are we buying? What is their entertainment OR artistic value? I work in advertising, so I know what I am talking about. It's total manipulation of the public when these no talents become 'stars'.

We see people like Paris plastered in all forms of the media on a daily basis. I've always been amazed at these sorts of fake 'celebrities' & even more amazed at the people who profess to be their 'fans'. It seems like so much idol worship wasted on the wrong people, when there are hundreds, possibly even thousands, more talented people out there worthy of these fans.

There are so many talented people out there struggling to get exposure in a very difficult field. ALL the musicians & artists on THIS weblog alone will attest to that fact.

Yet people with clearly no talent seem to have the doors of opportunity opening for them because of their over-the-top nonsense & 'connections'. Not to mention a very powerful media machine, which is always eager for 'new meat' to throw out to the world, no matter how it's presented and how shallow & devoid of talent the new 'star' is.

Guess the people pushing these 'stars' don't care about offering the public an actual 'personality' with talent? It's obviously all about money.

On 'The Simple Life', the premise was to take two suppossedly 'sophisticated' (ahem....not at all) young women & place them with families in the less chic parts of the USA. The whole gimmick of this show was to see if these two dumb, spoiled brats could survive without their Gucci, Prada & credit cards. Who cares. Zzzzz

Oh yes, they were also put to work, an alien concept to them. They need to spend less time shopping, partying & posing, they truly need to read a few books & volunteer somewhere! Personally, I have better things to do with my precious time than watch two nasty, delusional, vacuous airheads making fools of themselves on national TV.

Just my 50 cents.....Sorry for the long rant, but the words Paris Hilton & 'star' should never be used in the SAME sentence.

take care,
itanja

Hey, everyone!
How's it going?

Today I read a review of the last RHCP album in an university paper, and the reviewer said it was a shame that Dave left the band and that Californication was 'a boring record full of dull pop', and that the live album 'should've been a 1 disc album if they weren't gonna include any OHM songs'. You don't hear that a lot, it was refreshing (although I like Californication myself :)

Btw, I hear a lot of people complaining about Dave's smoking, and I just wanna point out that hardly anyone actually quits when people constantly tell them to. The minute you stop nagging, though, it's a different ballgame alltogether (no one really likes being told what to do, you know. Well, most of the time they don't ;)

Have a good one, people!
