Tuesday Check In
Let me ask you this. These videos, were they full length or just clips? I know what you are talking about but I don't remember ever uploading the full length versions. I'll try to find them but I don't even know where the machine I stored them on is. As for the CD with the book thing, I'd love to do that, there just happens to be some kind of "legal" thing that prevents it from happening. Oh well, I guess I'll just sneak the songs out here, one at a time over a period of time. The Bangles thing. My cousin, Dan Navarro wrote some stuff for them. Maybe that's why you thought it was me. I think his credit was D. Navarro. Happens all the time. No worries.
We've been just working away in the studio, writing some pretty cool stuff I think. Different from anything we have ever done collectively and separately. I'll try to keep the site updated as often as possible. As for downloads, I'm working on it. All my old stuff is still in our garage from the move. However, I will, as time passes, brave the dust and the boxes and find some files to upload until we have something new we can all agree to make public, even if they are demos or rehearsal recordings of poor quality. Someone asked about a complete list of appearances, but I don't have one. I couldn't even begin to remember all the stuff I have worked on over the years. As for the Grohl & Reznor thing? Would I do it if they asked? Put it this way. I would even go out there just to wash their cars if they asked. Make sure their drinks are cold. I can't wait to hear what they do together.

Peace,
Dave

Hey Dave
Just got Trust No One today and it's great, I love it.
Just wondering, is there a website with the lyrics to the songs somewhere? Or does no one really know them cept you? hehe
I think you should brave the dust and boxes, you'll end up finding something you thought you lost, or may even find something you never knew you had! It could be quite interesting.
Any, love the album and keep making brilliant music! lol
Love ya

Whoops! Sorry :) I did think as I was posting it could have been your cousin. Never mind I have been merrily singing my guts out to the Bangles all afternoon (UK)...
Thanks for replying though :)

PS I'd hold the bucket for you while you were cleaning their cars LMAO! Seriously though, that collaboration would be like heaven on a stick!

First post!
Thanks for all the INSANE downloads you've made availible to me and and of us visitng your site. Whats funny is now I have you doing Kashmir, the Whole Lotta Love cover...hmm don't suppose you've tackled Stairway? jk Thanks for Sparks. Dave I've heard of a secret track on your record "TNO" under the name "The Bed" or something like that, is that true because I don't have it on my copy (or I think).

Hey, Dave...
Since you´re putting some cool tunes up - and you seemed to like my NIN cover - here´s another one of my musical contribution to this lil cyber community you have going on here:
http://www.marcionigro.com.br/wokeup.zip
I don´t know if you like the music of Jeff Buckley, but... I did this cover here with a few added guitar parts (as usual). The original was so raw that I thought it wouldn´t do the song much harm if I messed with it a lil. Still, I tried to sing with my best possible accent...Not to screw it completely!
Please, Dave - check it out if you have the time, ok?
I sincerely hope this is NOT one of those classic "don´t quit your day job" kind of situations...lol :O)but if it is, no worries.
Peeps, you can email me your comments if you´re so inclined! In fact I´d be delighted to receive any kind of feedback from you.
Thanks to all...! Thank, you Dave!
much love from
Luiz.

thanks for all the downloads...i love the hungry "demo" version...as it's one of my fav songs from Trust No One, which consistently ranks in the top 10 of my CD collection (I actually own two copies...one for me, and one for lending out and making "converts" lol)
just a quick question...on "Til..." what was teh Portishead song you were thinking of using for your wedding song...I'm a big Portishead fan and was just curious.
You rock and you're just totally amazing at ANYTHING you do!

Dave, I just wanted to say I love your music.
You really inspired me and I hope you'll never stop making records.
Love Trust No One, especially Avoiding The Angel, it really touched me.
Keep on rocking,

Oh, and by the way, when you're going to play poker in Vegas on 8/27, say hi to John Rzeznik and Tommy Lee for me. I love their music as well.

I post regularly on the Foo Fighters board and everyone there is CREAMING over this Grohl/Reznor thing. There are pics of Dave and Trent at the mixing board together, it's too cool. Check this:
http://www.symphonyofnoise.com/nin/webcamfiles.htm
Dave, since you're friendly with Taylor Hawkins, it's not out of the realm of possibility that you could get an invite to sit in. Holy shit, that would be so amazing. What's really funny is that when I saw you and Carmen in Vegas at MGM, the night before the Billboard Awards, I was standing in the bar with Dave Grohl as you two passed by. It was a big moment for me...my two favorite Daves within 100 feet of each other, and me. Sigh.
Hope you get asked to join that project, even for one song. It would kick ass like nothing else!

I signed up for the poker thing.... If I win I will get my arse kicked royally!!!! I suck at poker. :)

Aaaawwwwwww Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhh these downloads! Techie people how do you save these?
Before the Celebrity Poker thing gets totally away, I REALLY want to know if Richard is a smoker or was that unlit cigarette a complete torture attempt? Seems like the guys there thought you were going to be the one to beat since they came prepared with ink tatoos et al.
And did you fill in the host guy later on the status of JA? JUST a little uncomfortable when he went on about "the band back together"....

Oneidafish,
Right click on the name of the song and click on "save target as"...
that should work! :O)

A little off topic but...
Do you think you have gained a lot from Carmen, like different outlooks/appreciations on things? I’ve just been thinking about relationships lately and I thought it was so cool that you answer questions on here.
I think it goes without saying that your work is awesome and I think seeing you play would be euphoric! :D (I missed lollapalooza last year because my parents pulled this “too young to be in such a big place routine; however this year Im aloud to go to bigger concerts besides little clubs, so if your ever playing in south Florida particularly the Ft. Lauderdale/WPB area holler)

d'you wanna wash my car while you're at it?
oh no... wait... I don't own a car.

Georgina,
Thanks Honey!
Is there a way to not have to rely on others to host the clips? Some that I really liked have already been taken down on another site. I don't have an ipod. Am I outta luck?
thanks

Thank you so much for putting up the Deconstruction song! As I said in the chat I've been egar to hear some stuff of it for a long time. :o) I am very impressed. Still hoping one day I may track down the album.

Wow very cool of you to put up these mp3s. They're going right into my IPOD. LOVE the Decon stuff. You are rippin it up!! Thanks for keeping us updated on your new project as well. It will be nice to see how it grows.
Luiz I liked you song too...cool wah-wah. I played it for people where I work and they liked it too! You should put it up on IUMA.com.
Here is a link to my band Fantasia. We are asking people's opinion which songs they think would be best to put first on the CD. So any input is appreciated from the list. (The top 4 are newer and aren't mastered yet)
Dave, when your band comes up and plays San Francisco/Bay Area, can we open up the show?
We are a hard rockin girl band...check it out. I'd be interested in your opinion on our music too.

For those interested...I just bought the Deconstruction cd on ebay and I'm pretty sure there were one or two more to be had.
Posted by: Cori at July 13, 2004 04:15 PM
I am pretty sure they were FULL videos.
At least the Venus in Furs was. And i would be willing to bet Hungry was as well. I'm surprised you didn't keep better track of that stuff. You output of great art around that time seemed to be quite substantial, even if the stuff was never officially released
I understand why you WOULD lose track of that sort of stuff. The timeframe in which it was all coming out wasn't exactly the greatest i suppose. Hence the book's contents.

Hey Dave, is there any chance that you need/want help with braving the dust and the boxes to find some files to upload. I live in L.A. and have a couple of free days every week right now. Let me know.
Posted by: Eric at July 13, 2004 05:50 PM
Dave
Hey got a couple of questions for ya. Could you explain a lil what the lyric "The sugar never helps" means in that track or just in your life. I always think of that lyric whenever I am getting a urge for some coke or whenever I am in need of some sweets & cheat day is still many days away :) It helps fight both bad urges.....
Also during your wedding you had someone in a "eyes wide shut" mask standing at the entrance. What was your take on that movie since of course the director died & not to mention everyone has there own whacky view on the film.
Thanks!
Giovanni

Hey dave, greets from South America
first off, it might be a bore to read this for a number of reasons
a)my english isn't as good as most your fans, cause my native tongue is spanish. so i might fuck up a sentence or two.
b)it's just ranting, no particular reason for me to drop this message, other than knowing you might actually read this. it makes it easy on us mortals to know that rockstars also check their emails and have actual lives beyond the media.
so anyway if either you or any other one of those who take time to read these threads think you might not enjoy my two cents, feel free to quit reading whenever you think it's appropriate.
now, i haven't been an all-time Janesaddiction fan, simply cause i was only bonr in 1984, so by the time i was a rocking teen, you guys had already gone to legend-land. Actually, as a kid, i had always felt really intimidated by the "extrovert" nature of bands such as JA or RHCP... but by the time i was 14, 15 i was just as post modern as the best of them... so THAT's when the chilipeppers kicked in. Along with, not JAne's but most of the Grunge scene.
So, i'd since been a fan of your collaboration with RHCP, but i never dared to cross over to Jane's land. Hell, i even got to Trust no One before nothing's shocking came to me. As well as your lovely wife, i had always liked "the one with the barking dogs" but that was it.
As i said earlier, there's no point in this other than sharing a bit of my life with you, as you share huge amounts of yours, wether in your guitarplaying, your lyrics (oh, i forgot to mention-- i was BLOWN AWAY by TNO!!!!!), or msgs such as these.
There's a certain thrill, nonetheless, as a fanboy, to fathom that one's musical biggest influence might read what he has to say. As a late bloomer, i've started playing guitar only a couple years ago, so i'm pretty much still trying to get the hang of it... but if anything, i play dreaming of one day achieving the musical sensibility that comes out in your playing.
that's all folks, i hope none of you got bored. if this message is out of place please let me know at carlosmatov@fibertel.com.ar
Thanx!

I wasn't able to listen to the downloads at work but I did once I got back home and they are WONDERFUL.. Thank you so much!
I've always loved Hungry and this version is so great.
I'm sure you have plenty of friends willing to help you out, but I live in LA as well and I'd be more than happy to help you sift through stuff. I just moved here a few months ago and I know what a mess it can be moving house. And I know some would be anxious to steal all that valuable stuff. I wouldn't trust just anyone around my stuff, and I would treat your stuff just as cautiously as mine. If anyone tried to take anything of yours I'd kick their bum. Ask Blackie, I've been to his place.
I'm just rambling I know it's never going to happen :)
Unfortunately I'm going to miss Camp Freddy radio on Saturday :( because I'm going to the Axis of Justice show at The Avalon (Maynard Keenan, Serj from System of a Down, Tom Morello, Pete Yorn, and Flea.. what a lineup!).
Love to all
have a good week!

I wish I could play poker with you guys in Vegas, that would be so cool! I'm too young though :-( (I don't play all that well either - lol)
I saw you on "I Love the 90's" today - I was most excited by it. One of my younger friends was like "That guy was on Celebrity Poker!" I was like "That's Dave Navarro." :-) You guys were really funny on it, I looked forward to your comments the most.
Posted by: Caitlin at July 13, 2004 08:49 PM
Thank you, and thank you again for the downloads! Too cool! In the future, if you happen to come across it in that garage, I'd especially love to hear the full version of the old Angel clip that used to be posted on the Spread site eons ago... oh, and also that version of Everything with the Hendrix-esque, heavily wah-wah-ed solo... loved that...
BTW: Do you know if this poker game is going to be televised somewhere? It sounds like a lot of fun!
Cool beans and sweet dreams,
Deena

Hey Maria, ban anymore Dave Navarro fans from your website lately?
What exactly are you doing posting on his website if you hate all his fans?
Stop kissing his ass you two-faced twit.
Posted by: Six7Six7 at July 13, 2004 09:09 PM
I have pretty much all of your stuff from the Spread era. I have a ton of Real Audio stuff, wavs, and I think just about everything that was on the site. Dave, if you would like to e-mail me we could work out a way for me to get this stuff to you if you'd like to post it. Unfortunately, I don't think that I will have enough bandwidth to host it all. I have about 24 sound bytes, 48 videos/video clips, and the spread font totalling about 62 MB.
I have put up the Venus In Furs video for download. I hope you don't mind Dave. It can be found here: http://www.o-tang.com/spread/
It's only a little over a MB.
You will need Real Player to view it.
Enjoy!
BTW Dave, I've enjoyed your appearances on "I Love the 90's"

i have this song i found called "turtle heaven" its like some amature techno song. it has like a recording of you saying turtle heaven over and over again. its weird. if youve never heard it, ill trade it to you for your nothings shocking guitar.

Whoaaah!!! Thanx Justin. That was awesome. Actually the most cutting edge thing I saw from Dave up to this point. Thanx. The quality wasn't that good, but I'm glad I saw the complete thing finally. Great.

Hey Dave, i dig when you're all dark and creepy like when you came up with the concept for that video.
Would you say that is more of an alter-ego, or are you like that all the time but don't indulge in darker imagery when you're happy (defintion : not cracked out)?
Posted by: Six7Six7 at July 14, 2004 01:31 AM
could one imagine the shocked looks if that ever played in rotation on mtv too kewl!
Posted by: stephanie at July 14, 2004 02:49 AM
oh and grow up six, none of us here really wanna hear any bashing,if we did we'd be at one of the other boards.

Thank you Justin, Thank you, Dave...! this site just keeps getting cooler - unbelievable!
Hey, I saw a clip of the "I love the 90´s" thing on E! Dave actually sang a bit of the MACARENA...! With Carmen! lol :O) Too funny!
BTW... I think it wasn´t as obvious in the past but I think Dave has a great sense of humor. Clever. A lil dark. Non sequitur kind of shit. He is a true Woody Allen disciple, I reckon. Oh yeah. ( Dave, please say "right on, Luiz" if you think I´m right...! :O) lol )
BTW - have you seen this flick here?
http://www.woodyallenmovies.com/movies/loveanddeath.htm
it´s one of my favorite Woddy Allen movies, I strongly recommend you this one if you haven´t seen it yet... there are some classic gags in it.
well, that´s it - sorry about the long post - I get easily carried away when I´m listening to great music... ("she haaaaas...everything...")
Love you, Dave! You bring a lot of joy to my life with your music, your boldness, your creativity and your cool tats! ;O) keep on rocking!

Hi,
thanks for the cool downloads.
I recently got SPREAD with that amazing Everything part 2&3. I never heart if before.
That solo in the middle kicks ass.
I also have this "turtle heaven" song, wasn't it a part taken from the MTV fanatic interview with that girl? I remember you talking to her about the pet turtle there. And that he is in turtle heaven now (that's what your mother told you after you said it's in the trash......??!!)
Please correct me if i am wrong.....well i watched it a dozen times ......
So, i think i asked that before but i won't give up, lol, - do you have the "L.A. Song video" to put it here? I am dying to watch it.
Thanks for all, take care

I found the other version of the Hungry video last night. I have posted it to http://www.o-tang.com/spread/
It's another low-quality Real Video file. If you download the newest version of Real Video you may need to download the old codecs. But, it should handle that for you. Just don't be alarmed if you get a pop-up when you try and play the video.

Dave I've always thought it would be cool to see what you and Larry "Ler" Lalonde could come up with together.
Any thoughts of having him jam with Camp Freddy? I know he typically doesn't jam the classic stuff but he's this generations Zappa and I'm sure he could come up with some cool leads.
Posted by: Jesse at July 14, 2004 08:52 AM
WTF Justin?? I didn't even knew there was a Spreadvideo for Hungry. Very Cool. What did you say? You had 48 video files?? Ehhhhh, needless to say you're more than welcome to share it all with us hungry fans. Hmmm, okay, maybe I'm tempting my luck here. Thnx.

Caught you and Perk on the I Love the 90's show last night!!!!
I used to work for a Hollywood fashion designer (Terri King) and way back in 99 or 00 she swore you were going to model in one of her fashion shows (held at Club Makeup). She said you didn't show but I could never tell if she was telling the truth or just messing with me since she knew what a big fan I was.
