SWK

dave_spread_iconNothing really that new to report. A lot of writing, rehearsing and all that. You all know about the Star Wars Kid, right? It'll make sense eventually.

1. what was your opinion on the movie "requiem for a dream"

Loved it!

2. What's your respond to all that "Dave became a media whore"

Honestly, I have been dealing with that since the RHCP days. I pay it no mind, but it used to bother me. I guess now, it's all about just doing what makes me happy. Who knows? Perhaps it's true!

3. Your now married to your Carmen, so do you trust people or is there still an invisible barrier that's always present?

I'd say that when I made TNO, I really felt that way. I later learned that it was my issue and how I chose to view the world that made me lose trust. Still, the album documents a time, but I certainly don't feel that way anymore. In spite of my efforts, I have been proven wrong, thank God.

4. Hey Dave, which the best thing in a marriage?

There are so many things I love about it. I guess having a partner who you can count on and truly be yourself with is up there on the scale. The 'no secrets' policy really helps.

5. Hey Dave, I was wondering if you could post the lyrics to "Somebody Else"?

I saw her on the street today. I thought she was somebody else. I met her last September. I thought she was somebody else.

6. Oh yeah he wants to know Playstation or X-Box?

I have both but I prefer Playstation. I lack the seven fingers per hand to operate the X controller. Remember, I am 37. I grew up with a stick and a button.

7. Gibson Les Paul or PRS 24

Different animals but similar. I have both. I find that for live shows, the PRS is a lot lighter.

8. You think that music is a serious business or it's a way of expression (or therapy) so direct that humor appears inappropriate.

Sense of humor is a great thing in music. When I made TNO, there wasn't really anything that funny to me.

9. Are you a big car fan? What's your current fleet

1987 Buick Grand National (a gift from Carm after she did some investigating with my friends), 2004 Hummer...

10. I was wondering if you've felt the "itch" to get a new tat. If so, what would it be?

Carmen and I plan to get our wedding date soon. 11/22/03

11. I feel I can't do my regular business because how do I go back to my regular routine? (regarding a death of a friend)

It sounds hard, but you just have to power through. It'll get easier in time. Stay in the moment and just do the next thing. Don't look at the whole day, just the task at hand.

12. Luiz, I agree with everybody here. You just have to follow your heart. I just have to say that I think it is so amazing how supportive you all are to one another. The love you have shown Hector and Luiz is awesome. What a great place. I am honored to host it.

13. Did you ever release the book of photo-booth pictures, or do you still plan to?

October of this year.

14. I stayed up Saturday night to hear you on CFR...didn't know you weren't going to be on! Will you be on next week?

I will be joining the guys on Saturday.

15. I guess Dave that being a Floyd fan has influenced your work in some ways?

Definitely!

Be well,

Dave

Hey Dave (and guys), just found this page, and think its pretty cool you guys are keeping us in the loop about your goings on, look forward to hearing some new material.

A question for Dave, if you've got time to answer, but as a guitar player, i wondered how old you were when you started playing, and how much you used to practise/still do practise? Whats your favourite stuff to jam on as a warm up?

Greatly appreciate your answer if you can, and thanks for the Reading 2002 appearance with Janes, I stayed in the rain to watch you guys (having never heard any of your stuff) and I was blown away!! Best band of the weekend!!

Thank you so much for addressing my little dilemma, Dave!

And thank you very much to all the peeps who have offered me kind words and support - this is indeed a great "cyber community" to be part of!

as of now I haven´t done anything to change the current status between me and my lovely Gemini friend, but I will - as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Then I´ll let you peeps know what happened...

again, thank you very, very much...!

And Hector, I´m very sorry to hear about your friend - only time can heal that. Stay in touch with us here and we might be able to make it pass a lil quicker, ok?

peace!
Luiz.

hey Dave! Here's a few questions to choose from... if you ever have time to get around to any of them that would be coooool.
1. I saw your guys's (Jane's) show last year at Lolla in Indiana and I noticed you weren't on stage for the first 2 or 3 songs and your guitar was cuttin out... what was goin on with that?
2. What kind of guitar did you use in the 'Just Because' video?
3. What/who inspired you to be a musician when you were young?
4. Have you ever worked with Dave Grohl? and what do you think about him?
(I asked the last 2 questions earlier so, sorry if I seem like a dick for asking again haha.)
Keep rockin! I can't wait to her the new material

Dave,

I know you might not know what to say but if you can help me...Me and my boyfriend have been together for 7 months now, our last relationship was a total mess, but we stilled like one another so we got back together..

We fight..over stupid things. And..I always end up crying, and he gets pissed off at me and walks away from me and ever curses at me..

I am very emotionally attached to him..(emotional as well, duh..) sometimes my friends say let him go..but I just can't it isn't easy..

Do you have any advice on what to do to not fight all the time? Cause you and Carmen seem like a successfull couple..and I kinda want that too with my boyfriend..

P.S. Oh yeah..and when we fought a very long time ago..I would listen to your song Hungry...over and over..cause I felt Empty..like the Empty Girl..heh

Thanks a Bunch,
Vanessa

Good Morning-Dave,
Hello, I hope all is well! I remember reading a long time ago (RHCP days) that you took up playing the piano, do you still play alot, & has it helped your guitar playing? Do you have a favorite composer? Just curious...
Thanks Brett

P.S> I knew I should have asked the "Mystery Girl" out! Oh well...Thanks for investigating this for me.

Hey Dave,

I know your a big Will Smith fan... Any plans to go see I, Robot? :)

and while i'm at it, I seem to remember you saying that you were in to the X-files... As a long time X-files fan to another, were you happy with the ending of that show?

hey ther chief, hope yer well,

now just imagine (harps and dream sequence music)

my fantasy three-man guitar off sets you, prince and lou reed on a free form navel inspection in the key of.....sad but optimistic. you in?

oh! and how many bands have posted on here, tactlessly buttered you up with compliments about your (admittedly excellent) movie reviews and guitar spoiling before asking you to visit their website and leave a cheery "hi this is Dave Navarro and i sincerely believe that, (just for an example) I Own Kings are the face of the future in rock n'roll"? that must get really old.

also do you know when eric a. gets done with alanis morrisette? would he relocate to London? for no money? www.iownkings.net

Quick Question.....

Have you ever heard the song Street on Fire by Porno for Pyros, it was a song the guys did for the movie Dark Blue that was never released. I'm actually listening to it now and I think it is great.

Also, considering you talk to Steve, and that Jane's is done, are you guys 100% against Perry or would Steve maybe go back and re-unite with P4P, I know you guys are anti-Perry right now but I'm sure everything could be patched up so you can all at least be friends, and we know about some of the drama that went on, but maybe it can all be put behind you? I would love to hear Steves reaction to a possible P4P reunion, or whatever they would like to call it. Not to bash Jane's at all but I thought they were doing some spectacular music before they went on "hiatus" and was hoping to hear from them again. I thought that Good Gods Urge was an incredible album, and I thought Hardcharger was a great song too with you and Peter on guitar, Maybe you guys can all kiss and make up and form a Jane's/Porno Supergroup with you, Perry, Steve, Martyn, Chris and Peter, you can call it Jane's Porno Addiction.....lol. I think Peter is an awesome guitar player and I think you would agree to that yourself.

Hi Dave!

Thanks for putting up Iris...it inspired me to get Deconstruction, which I received in the mail yesterday, and I absolutely love it!!

Also...I'll be geek #2 to go on record saying I haven't a clue what you're talking about with the Star Wars Kid.

Thanks, as always, for your time Dave.

Hi everyone! I love the vibe on this site! when I started to read posts daily,I was amazed to see how well everyone communicated and shared their thoughts.I have to say Dave, the fact that you spend time out of your day to provide us with some awesome music bites while writing your own posts and reading others makes you even more grounded!

I hope that everyone is well. and Vanessa,if you truly see something special about him and you both have a genuine love for one another,I say try to work it out. Keep the small arguments small by concentrating on the better things that a relationship can offer.

Peace,

iris.

Haha, talk about coincidence, S.W.A.T was on the Tele and I could hear "Just Because" in the background.

Posted by: Iris at July 20, 2004 11:56 AM

i take it this isnt a chat to each others kinda thing more of an ask dave questions thing right?

well then have any good advice on how to try and get over some one you love so bad it hurts but dont wanna loose but need to give time and space so they remember how much you mean to them even thoi they have gone off with some one else to try and get over you and you know they like you cos you can tell after being so close but they deniy it and ignore you more and then you go and make it worse damn im a fool :(

What are your favorite meditation techniques? Zen? SRF?

Love all around,

PS Allow me to add my name to the growing call for guitar tabs. Your voicings are intriguing.

Grand National, my favorite car of them all. My friend just got one and I have yet to give it a spin. 87 or 88 dave? I hear the 88's are better. I hear there were grey ones, called t-types and the fbi bought up a bunch. Grand nationals are one of the fastest production cars ever made. Enjoy, later, T

I understand your not wanting to delve into the nature of the end of Jane's too deeply, but I was wondering if things coming from Lau had something to do with the decision.

Either way, good luck breaking new ground with the new project.

Posted by: darshan at July 20, 2004 02:38 PM

Dave,

Thanks for all the "Old" files. I had not heard most of them, and if you would keep em' coming. I especially like hearing the evolution of the TNO tunes.

Two Questions:

Do you still see music in "Colors"? What are the chances of you working with Daniel Ash on anything?

Thanks,

Mike C.

do you think it would be cool if Perry had a band that played any song from JA or P4P live? as a fan of both, i think that would be satisfying. i hate the thought of him not singing songs that are so great, especially live.

Dave,

I have a demo of "America" from the Deconstruction album.

It is a different version, since the album version is 7:00 mins and this one is 4:47.
(I was told there would be no math on this website, but that appears to be different).

If you want it, let me know.

PS Ginger or MaryAnn?

Posted by: Schwing at July 20, 2004 05:10 PM

No questions today...i think lavish praise for dave will suffice. he answered my question (woo!! i loooooove requiem for a dream...it really helped me understand humanity and have more compassion). i absolutely adore the fact that dave is so willing and able to communicate with his fans.

and i agree with the fact that this is a great community...i look forward to reading posts from luiz and other popular posters and if i can help anyone that's always a great thing. I think that most people (i'm excluding the haters and the assholes) are great and loving people or so it seems lol. i'm really proud to be part of a loving community like this and i'm glad that my post might brighten someone's day (at least i hope it does)

and for an afterthought...being that i do live in nyc...i hope dave comes out here...i didn't get a chance to see lolla and i was way too young during relapse (i was like 12 lol) to see them live...so i would love the opportunity to at least see dave live. i now realized i've rambled long enough...adios.

Stars Wars Kid is hilarious - kids from my town swear that was filmed in one of our high schools (though most high schools around here look pretty similar, so I dunno...)

One of my favorite buddies is staying with us starting tonight - going to be fun. Have a good night all.:-)

Hi Dave I know you’re busy but it's been over 3 months since your last Camp Freddy gig in the LA area (with the exception of Camp Freddy Radio) are there plans for one soon?? By the way were you at the Roxy this Friday at the Cardboard Vampires/Doheny gig? I thought I saw a glimpse of someone that looked like you rocking out in the VIP area but I could be wrong. I was a bit tired, I was on the other side of the venue and it was dark. Although I immensely enjoyed the show, I thought Camp Freddy had a more diverse cover selection. Well maybe diverse is not the right word, I think they were a bit heavier and you guys were just fun. Anyhow, I hope you’re planning to play some gigs in the LA area soon

Wendy

PS. You know those pictures that were posted of you a few days ago, were you wearing Speedos?? I’m pretty open minded with most things but Speedos Dave? I don’t think anyone can pull off wearing Speedos well maybe Vince Vahn and only because I can see him being nonchalant about it. Speedos?? Ok sorry about the last comment but I just had to throw it in. My friend and I were having a conversation about “Speedos this weekend and I happened to remember it right now. Back to the music…did I mention I love “iris

Heya Dave -

Well done on this site - in a society with plenty of weird ideas about celebrity, it's cool to see somebody interacting with fans on a genuine level.

I don't know if anyone's asked this, but have you thought about playing Deconstruction songs with the new band? I'd love to hear a kick-ass version of Iris live...

I believe the guitar Dave's using in the 'Just Because' video is a James Trussart Brushed Nickel Steel Deville.

Dave, if you *were* wearing speedos, it's all good man. Flaunt what you got, you know?!

I'm glad to hear you'll be on this weekend. I have a wedding reception to go to, but afterwards I'll be tuning in. I know you were worried :-)~

After chatting with you about music, I decided to change things up a bit this week in my playlist and throw in some more NiN. It's been a while since I've listened to Trent. Listening to his work is a weird mix of sorrow and euphoria. But it's been sooo long...

So, there seems to be a lot more side-chatter going on now here than there originally was. What's your take on this? Is it amusing, annoying, boring? I suppose it's natural in a social environment. Is there anything off-limits in terms of what you'd be willing to discuss?

Later,

aj

Thanks, interesting to hear about the cars, especially the Grand Nat'l. addition.

In follow-up to Wendy (a.k.a. Wendybird), can you please keep us posted on any CF shows on the horizon? I'll be making a trek to San Diego (17-27 Sept.) for my best friend's wedding. I'm sure a long shot, but that would be something else if there happened to be a CF show in LA around that timeframe. (The last time I was on the w. coast was when my buddy and I left our Reno snowboarding trip to see you headline Coachella 2001.) A CF show is on the top of the list, so I'll keep my fingers/toes crossed! -Al (Detroit Rock City, MI)

Ive been in that boat just recently. The best thing to do is write out things that have gotten you guys pissed off then present it to him. You always have to keep an open connection; when he does something little that erks you tell him, you also have to incourage him to do the same.
Sorry if I repeated what other people said, I just got excited and had to respond right away!
