Sunday Morning 2

dave_spread_icon1. Speaking of Pink Floyd. Did you see the Roger Waters tour in 2000 w/ Snowy White and Doyle Bramhall II on guitars?

Oh yes, a must see for any Floyd fan.

2. Does a woman's tears have effect on you? what do you do when Carmen cries?

A heavy effect. I just be there for her, hold her, try not to "solve" anything for a while and just listen.

3. what do you think of rick rubin, what encounters have you had with him?

Rick is the coolest most talented little bitch! I have worked with him many times over the years and we always have a laugh and a great time! He is a great producer and a great friend.

4. Do you have a favourite Marilyn Manson album?

Antichrist. I consider it a modern classic. There is nothing not amazing on that thing.

5. When you and C.E go to clubs, how do you deal with the dancing "obligation" factor? Do you Dance with her or just sit and watch her dance with others?

I am the world's worst dancer and my wife is one of the best. I usually struggle through a song or two, then turn it over to her and her girlfriends. It's kind of hot watching them go for it. Never had to sit there and not be fully entertained.

6. When u think about the past and everything you've done and been thru, Do you have any regrets?

No, I don't have any as all of my past has lead me to where I am now.

7. Can you read sheet music or do you play by ear?

I would say that I cannot read music. If I absolutely had to, I could fake my way through (counting lines and so forth), but I really do not enjoy it. That's just me. I like the spontaneous unknown.

8. When can we expect your and Carmen's sex tape to 'leak' on the internet?

You know, if we had one, there would be no leak, I would just put it up here!!!

9. hey dave, whats this about a video called against the sky? was it supposed to come out? what happened, will it not be released?

I think that had a lot to do with cocaine psychosis. It doesn't exist... sorry about that. It read better than it looked, so we turned it into the book and scrapped the video.

10. I have both the "Spread" Alnum and "Trust No One", both are amazing, but why did Chad not make it onto the final album?

By the time I actually got around to it and went to finish the thing, he was deep into RHCP world and I needed to re-cut a lot of stuff. Just an availability issue more than anything.

11. Tits or ass man????????

Honestly, I am a face man. I guess I lucked out with my wife. Triple threat!

12. Dave, can you give us an idea of what Circle of the Noose sounds like?

I remember it being an acoustic jam with drums and some electric overdubs. Breaking the Girl-ish. BTW: To the guy who has asked a few times, I can't find the question, I never did get to meet Hillel.

13. how do you keep daily journaling from becoming yet another thing that HAS to be done?

I really look at it as a great deal. Five or ten minutes a day for peace of mind and clarity. I'd rather spend the few minutes in the morning than deal with a day long drama.

14. please tell Chris/"to the mystery woman" that I think she is beautiful!!!! By the way what's her name?

Sorry bro, we have no idea who you are seeking. Some mysteries are meant to go unsolved.

15. was it true you continued using 'til late 2000? I'm sorry for posting another drug question, but I'm just curious to know how it all went down.

Well, yes off and on. Not a happy time. But, hey... It's all good now! No regrets.

Have a great Sunday. I have a busy week so I'll check in as often as I can, but things may slow down just a tad. I will, however stay updated myself via Sidekick.

Hi Dave,

I love chatting with you a couple of weeks ago or so. Damn that was cool. Can you do another one?? Like oh next week. I am going to Vegas in August and notice that you are playing Rockstar Poker, but its the week I am not gonna be there. Kinda sux dammit.. I cant even play poker and I only have 4 weeks to learn.. I know BlackJack, I can win on that...One question kinda silly:

What is the last movie you and Carmen saw in the theatre?? I saw Spiderman last night and it was so amazing. GO SEE IT!!!

wow...one of the first to actually post...it's good to be on NY time and have it be 1:50 here lol. that way when dave is up early...it's already afternoon here. i just love this site...i look forward to visiting it everyday...and it's great that dave is so open and communicative with his fans.

one question...doesn't need an answer necessarily...buuuuut...i was wondering...what was your opinion on the movie "requiem for a dream" (i know it was your second date with carmen)...did you feel it was accurate? it was a very powerful movie for me and i was wondering how it affected you.

thanks so much for all your time, attention, devotion, and most of all for your extreme, ridiculous amount of talent.

Hey Dave,

Don't appologise for putting up old music instead of new music. Although I'm curious what the new shit will sound like I'm confident It will be possible for me to get that in a record store sometime in the hopefully near future. The old stuff is nowhere to be found. I didn't have this version of "Avoiding the Angel". Great man. Very thankful.

Hi Dave

Just a couple of question if you would like to answer :)

1. What's your respond to all that "Dave became a media whore" stuff which has appeared in the internet lately, for example on xiola.org? i'm far away from judging someone, especially an artist, i know it's raging for you, how do you feel about it?
2. out of pure curiousity - how many cigarettes do you smoke per day?
3. i know i asked Stephen the same question on his site, but i'd like to ask you the same - may i kindly request to put Poland on the future tour map with your new band (Steve P, chris, Steve I and you)? thanx for any answers :)

love from Poland

hey dave,

just a quick one,

your album was called trust no one as you know, so i understand you went through a period of not trusting people and so on...

your now married to your Carmen, so do you trust people or is there still an invisible barrier thats always present?

Wow...I can't believe this is happening. It's like a dream come true. Dave Navarro..actually speaking, actually writing on a website. Hey Dave? Did you do this HTML or did someone else? I just want to say I am a big fan of yours and I just LOVE you and Carmen! You guys can adopt me if ya'd like :D? Hehe If you see this tell Carmen I think she's just a beautiful amazing chicka and you're amazing too :)!

Posted by: Vanessa at July 18, 2004 01:39 PM

hee, fun.

anyway, what d'you mean you're a bad dancer? like, you have no rhythm or something, because I find that hard to believe... if we're gonna be categorical then I guess I' have to join you in the 'bad dancer gang' because people take the piss of how I dance... T.B.H. I don't really give one, I just like to move to the groove... haha.

I always thought that COTN would be heavier than how you described... the title made it sound like that. D'you remember the titles of any of the other songs?

Have fun, working... but ah, is it work if you enjoy it...? *grins* peace out, man.

Thanks for the update, always a happy surprise. I had the Saturday from hell yesterday, dealing with the longest, hottest horse show ever coupled with my sister's very sick horse (plus 2 healthy but very grumpy other horses) I think we're putting the vet's daughter through college. What a day.

That's nice of you to let Carmen sleep - my bf always wakes me up when he stays with me...not nicely :-(

Hey dave!,

I have to say that jane's brake up have broken my heart in a . but i'm happy you all moving on and doing what feels right.
I, myself just got back from 10 months backpacing in south america. it really was the most amazing experience of my life. the thing is that after discovering there is so much to life, and so many things to see and exprience, it's been very hard to come back to the routine of everyday life-everything seems pointless.
any suggestions how to make the little things inspiring again?have you ever felt anything similar?.

All my love,Elinor.

Dave,

Thanks for answering my questions in the past.
1- Are you a sports fan? If so, who are your favorite teams/sports?
2- What are your favorite AC/DC songs/albums? My favorite album is POWERAGE and my 2 favorite songs are HARD AS A ROCK & HAVE A DRINK ON ME.
3- When was the last time you kissed FLEA on the lips?

Thank you,

Hi Dave,

Thanks again for answering my past questions. You included HAL 9000 samples in "Angel". Have you read any of the '2001' books by Arthur C. Clarke? Do you like to read, and can you find the time to do so in your busy life? Any particular favourites?

Thanks again.

Hey Dave
Thanks for the answering my question a few days ago about the tuning for hungry but i have two more.

1.) Are all your solos recorded in standard E

2.) Why is "The Bed" done in standard E when Reeds version is in standard D and that you do most your solo stuff in open D.

i thought dropping your guitar down to D is prefered by you for your vocal range or did you just want to be different.

Whoops one more

Hi Dave
thanks for the music, the old angle is great love the Hal efect, Iris is great also. wanted to say thanks for all the years of music and helping me get clean. back in 1995 I had a guitar magazine with an article in it about your life and how it has change for the better. made me feel if Dave can get sober anyone can, I remember you wrote about how the Butthole surfers music helped, I would listening to One Hot Minute in the same way. its great to be reading your in good health, about 5 years back it was getting very hard to read your writings it was too sad. one more way your influence is in my life, I now have two different boss delays pedals. thanks shaun

Chris you mentioned the Roger Waters tour of 2000 and yes like yourself and Dave, I too went along to watch him in Rotterdam. I was totally sucked in by all the old footage of the band from the early days with Syd Barret(wot a guy!)

I guess Dave that being a Floyd fan has influenced your work in some ways?
I get a real sense of Floyd in your song Morning Sun where you sing "where is the heartbeat coming from"
I find myself humming this tune all the time :)

Have a great week catch up with you soon,

hey dave!

does humor belongs to music?

reading your posts i notice with pleasure that you have an excellent sense of humor. While the jane's songs are charged whit brilliant humor noir and hirony
In TNO there's no space for humor and hilarity.
just curious... you think that music is a serious business or it's a way of expression (or therapy) so direct that humor appears unappropriate.. or? (shame on my bad english.. i'm italian and studied french)

maybe it's a good time for a reply!

So well, thanks for the old stuff dave, i've always been a fan of gritty-soundin, kinda lo-fi recordings. i think you (allofya!) are extremely kind to share all this stuff. so now i guess it's my turn to share. i really didn't ask for permission for this from the band cause i don't know'em; but this is a really good tune from one of my fave bands here in argentina. Theyre called Divididos and i'm guessing not many of you have heard of them. BTW i'm about to cover this song with some guys so as soon as i've got MY take on it i'll upload it too...
i'd love to hear what you all think of it. http://www.geocities.com/carlosmatov/temas/mate.mp3

also, what's your opinion (if any) on designer/journalist/sociologist David Carson? he worked with NIN on the Downward Spiral artwork... i don't know how that came to my mind, but while i'm at it (asking senseless questions, that is) what do you make of lenny kravitz as an artist? AND would you ever jam with keanu reeves??? now THOSE are media people...
=)
best wishes to yall

hey Dave! I really dig what you've been doing with the site... very cool. I'm 17 and I just wanted to let u know I'm a huge fan and respect everything you do. I have a couple of questions too, if you ever have time to get around to them that would be awesome.
1. Is the new material that you guys are working on going to have more of a Jane's sound to it or are you trying to go in a different direction?
2. What inspired you to start playing music when you were growing up?
3. Have you ever worked with Dave Grohl? and what do u think about him?
(sorry my post is so long man, haha. keep rockin!)

Posted by: Trent I. at July 18, 2004 08:59 PM

I must say that I felt a stabbing pain in my stomach when I heard that Jane's had split, again. Nausea, anger, sadness...then I blasted Nothings Shocking and Ritual through headphones and felt whole again. I saw one of the 2003 Lolla shows and one of the last shows in December and I really had hopes for a full blown US tour for Strays. Can you elaborate on why more singles weren't released...why the album seemed to get abandoned? Every bit of Jane's music and your solo music is essential to the core of my very being. I want to thank you for all you've given. I'm still depressed that Jane's is no more but I look forward to hearing your ferocious guitar licks in whatever music you create. Thanks for posting all these songs...they definitely hit the spot. :)

Hey Dave,

Maybe you already answered this, but I can't find it. Perk wasn't very open about this on his site so I guess I'll ask you.

What's with the unreleased stuff from the Strays sessions? Are there songs which haven't been released? I heard rumours you recorded 18 songs. Very curious about them. Is there a studio-version of Bring the Mood? I don't suppose you can put them up for legal reasons, but do you think this material will ever be released? I understand that there also has to be a studio version of the acoustic version of Just Because. Live this sounded great so I would very much like to hear the studio thing. We'll have to wait for Kettle Whistle part II I Guess? Will there be somesort of leftover-release for Jane's? Maybe to fulfill the Capitol-contract? Ah well, maybe it's too early to speak about these kind of things. I think you guys will have to work it out with Perry in some sort of way. As always, I'll be patient. Hope you can answer some of these questions. If not, I'll understand.

Good morning, Dave! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. I was wondering if you've felt the "itch" to get a new tat. If so, what would it be? What was the last tattoo you had done? I've got several myself, so I can appreciate their artistic value, and I can definitely say that I'm ready for some more ink! I'd really appreciate it if you would entertain this question. Thanks again for the tunes, as well as your dedication and enthusiasm for this site and your fans. Take care, and enjoy your week.

Hey Dave,
Saw you yesterday on the Funkmaster Flex show…you guys were great! Anyway, how did Carmen know you wanted the Grand National? Did you pick it out with her or did she just surprise you?
And completely off that topic, it seems you’ve done a lot of work where you don’t have copies of the songs or the video. How can that happen? Aren’t the distributors obligated to give you copies when you want them? It’s sad that you don’t have your whole catalogue at your disposal. And sad for us too…
Wishing you love and happiness,
Susan

2. I took a look at PRS's this weekend...I am in desperate need of a new electric. I had no idea how much they cost! Guess that's not an issue for you though. They told me I could get an import for much less; do you think it would be worth it, or should I just save up for the real deal?

Thanks,

Thanks so much for the blog Dave. I'll find a question to ask some day, but for now I'm just an observer.

Posted by: Brooks at July 19, 2004 09:44 AM

Hey, Dave

I´m having a miserable day here so I thought I´d ask you a few questions cos maybe your kindness will help me feel better.

Fist of all, I´m in love with this chick who is my best friend. We always hang out together but she has lots of male friends so I´m sure this is no big deal for her (i.e, I´m not THAT special)

I always behave like a good friend and never try to be anything other than that when I´m with her. I´m afraid to do or say something stupid and ruin our friendship - therefore losing her for good (I´m sure things wouldn´t be quite the same if I tried anything).

Now...Should I wait for her to try and kiss me some day? (yeah, right! Now that´s reaaally likely to happen...lol) Or not?? But on the other hand if I don´t try anything, how will I know? I like her so much that sometimes I feel that just hanging out with her is enough. I love her smile, man. But sometimes - well, I´m human and I have human (sexual needs!)... So I know that friendship is just NOT enough. What should I do, Dave? I figured that a guy like you probably has some pretty good insight into the human soul and those kind of situations... Yeah, I bet you do.

Another question is: is it true that you and Prince (or the Artist, or whatever his name is now) were born on the same day, same year and all?? If so, what does C.E. think about that? And what´s HER sign? (I know you´re a lovely and versatile Gemini - so is the girl I´m in love with, BTW).

Do you believe/care about Astrology at all??

Again, thank you very, very much for your time and kindness.

Lots of Aquarian Love from
Luiz.

Luiz...obviously I'm not Dave but, I've got to respond to your post.

I married my best friend...he is my absolute soul mate and it's perfect. We fell in love over time, after knowing each other with no pretense and neither of us putting on a show or trying to prove/hide anything.

We were very close friends for 2 1/2 years (always discussing the losers we were dating) and then one night...after some drinks...he kissed me and knocked my socks off!!! Before that moment, I had no thoughts about him in a romantic way at all, but after that one kiss, everything changed.

I guess I'm trying to say...life is short...GO FOR IT!!!!

I really like the files you share here. You're so nice to take the time to put them up for us.
=) Oh! and someone asked how to save the music and videos to their own computer..

1)Right click
2)Select "save target as"
3)Name it, place it, and enjoy!

hey all,

first thing i always do when i go online is to visit this site and to read every1's posts, and the one guy that you can count on to have cool posts and goodies is LUIZ!

Luiz i think you should just go for it and see what happens, you only live once and Cori is the living proof that it works!

good luck let us know how it all works out (happiness or tears!)

love to all

Hector, i'm sorry to hear about your loss... We have all been there man. My grandmother who I was real close to killed herself a few years ago.
I don't think there's really anything anyone can say to make things better, but I send you a cyber hug. (((hugs)))

Luiz, the best thing you can do in any relationship is to communicate and let the other person know how you feel. If you want to take it to the next level, ask her and see how she feels about it. Nothing ever happens between 2 people unless someone takes the risk of being rejected. Has she given any indication that she might be interested in taking it further? You should simply ask her what she thinks your position (no pun intended) is with you and what she would like it to be. Everyone has the right to know where they stand and I think it would be a legitimate question that wouldn't do any harm to your friendship and maybe even help you 2 get closer.

yes I know, I'm not the one you asked for advice but hey, we're all entitled to put our 2 cents in, right?

Hey, Dave!

Although I was familiar with your lovely wife and some of your music, I knew little about you until Celebrity Poker. Albeit a snippet of your personality on a two-hour show, you are absolutely charming, engaging, and a consummate poker player. Sure, you’ve heard all of this before, but here is the kicker: I am a 44-year-old mom of teenage boys! The boys and their friends now tease me incessantly that they plan to tell the other carpool moms in our upscale-Atlanta-suburbia-world that “Mom actually likes Dave Nivaro!

Gasp! Shock! Out-casted Mom! Vote her off!

Anyhow, I was delighted to see your personality and intellect on the show and hope if you are ever in Atlanta, you are bored, and want to stir it up a bit, you can certainly ride shotgun while I carpool!

Regards,
Candace in Georgia

Luiz there are plenty of fish in the sea, if you go for it and it doesn't work out, well it wasn't meant to be :o)

Take a deep breath and ask her out!!!!!

Luiz...just from your posts...you seem like a really nice guy...and as a person who is into astrology...gemini's are good people (they're a lot like libra's...which i am) and if she's really your friend...she'll let you down gently and won't make you feel bad...but who know's...it might actually work out...i say go for it...i spent YEARS totally obsessed with my best friend, and never made a move...only to find out too late that he did in fact like me...we're still friends...but nothing more came of it...so go for it and god speed!! ;-)

Dozzo you asked "Does Humour belong in music?"
Well if you go get yourself aquainted with Mr Frank Zappa, you will find that humour definately belongs in music! He had plenty of humour and was possibly one of the best guitar players of all time.

Hey Dave what did you think of Frank Zappa & did you ever get to meet him?

Chase, thanks so much for the interview link for the TNO loving it :)

Guys don't you think its time we got a chat room set up? as it looks like some people need an outlet, anyone know how to do this?

Luiz I hope everything works out for you and Hector I feel for you man, I know how this is, time is a great healer.

Peace Kirsty x

Did you ever release the book of photo-booth pictures, or do you still plan to? I remember hearing about it years ago, but I never actually saw it. Looking forward to it!
