Saturday, In The Park...
Thank you guys for the positive feedback! I have to go and tape this awards thing today so I will be off-line for a day or so. When I return I will get to some questions and we will discuss some options for the cyber-song. The Panic Channel is open to interpretation for the time being as it has evolved from so many different things. I can get into it a bit better when I have the time. For now, enjoy your weekend and I will speak to you tomorrow.

Would you ever consider playing guitar on an unsigned local LA artists demo? Gish meets Mezzanine.

DAVE...
The Panic Channel....reminds me of something Marylin Manson said about capitalism;the media;the news...feeding on people's fears, which prompts them to consume....got his head screwed on, that boy!....The Logo:lotsa references there actually(real or imaginary). Looks wicked! Can't wait to hear the tunes....
EVERYBODY...
I have TWO SPACEY LOOPS POSTED(in green-LOOPS FOR 6767) at my site, to play with...(click on my name below and youll get to kansas)...(Lclick Listen, Rclick Save)

Love the logo and yep The Panic Channel works for me too :)
Made me wonder when you are in the process of naming a band, I guess you have to have someone research that the name is not already being used?
Also wanted to ask what was the ska track that you opened with on Camp Freddy last week?
I know it but I just can't think what it is. I love a bit of ska every now and then, really lifts the spirits.
Have a great weekend!

Dave
I think the name sucks, but I hope the music is great
Oh, and the logo reminds of the Artist formerly known as Prince...is that where the idea came from?
cheers,

Heyyyy! on the other post someone posted as me and even used the correct email.. But I didnt recall posting it! (because I didnt)
("are we going to get the band name tonight or what --Bonnie")
If anyone else pulls this stunt, i will be severetly discontent. That just isnt cool. Thats like pseudo identity theft! LOL.
Dont use me as a scapegoat for your own impatience... =( And now I have to read through and make sure nothing rude was written with my name. If something is, i am changing my pseudonym and email so no one knows who i am anymore!
Sorry this had to waste space in your blog Dave.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/No_one_important/number1856.jpg
check that out.. hehe.

I have a feeling that this new project is gonna be something very special. I can't wait to hear the new stuff. Great name for the band too!!
Can you tell me, how many guitars do you own? What types do you have? I assume you have PRS and Fender Strats - any others?
Cheers Dave!
Enjoy your weekend too!!

Hi Dave. I'm a huge fan of yours. You seem like such an awesome person. I'd love to meet you someday, but I doubt that would ever happen since I live here in Arkansas. No one hardly ever comes here. :o( Anyway, I saw in a previous post that you said something about there being a "Till Death Do Us Part" DVD. Do you have any idea when it might come out? I would love to get it because I loved the show. I'd just like to thank you for posting your thoughts here. It's so nice to know that you care so much about your fans & want to interact with them. You're a big inspiration to me. Keep up the amazing work & I wish you & Carmen all the best. Have a great weekend & take care! :o)

I just want to thank you for inspiring me to pick up the guitar. It's one of the best things that has ever happened to me!
And a question: what do you think is your biggest strength and weakness as a guitar player?
Thanks,

Here's part of the Ryan Seacrest interview for those who missed it - sorry it's not complete, my family kicked me off the VCR, so I'll have to get the end later. The beginning and some good stuff though.:-)
Ryan: Please say hell to Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro!
(crazy cheering, lots of people holding up signs)
Dave: (reading) Dave you and be MY addiction...Thank you! Except that's a guy it...but that's alright.
Ryan: That's okay.
Ryan: Have a seat.
Dave: Wow. What an audience you guys have!
Carmen: I know!
Dave: Unbelievable. Cool.
Ryan: It makes my job pretty easy because I can say, like, 3 sentences and hour and then the cheering just takes up the rest.
Dave: And they do this! (more cheering)
Ryan: Okay, so, don't think I'm being weird but you're 2 of my favorite people, and I'm just so enamored by both of you and I really admire and respect your relationship and I happen to know a lot about it because it's on televsion.
Carmen: (laughs) Right, right.
Dave: True.
Ryan: But it still begs several questions. First of all, I'd like to know exactly how you met and how you knew there was magic between the 2 of you. Go ahead.
Carmen: We were set up on a blind date.
Ryan: A blind date. Now-
Dave: That wasn't all that blind.
Ryan: But I wouldn't imagine, knowing who you are, that you'd be comfortable with a blind date scenario.
Dave: I had never been on a blind date before.
Carmen: Neither had I.
Dave: So I was down.
Ryan: How long ago was that?
Dave: (looks at Carmen) About...3 and a hlaf years ago.
Ryan: Okay so she's famous, you;re famous, somebody says "I want to set you up on a blind date," you obviously knew it was going to be her...

Dave: I knew it was going to be her, but I had never met Carmen before, so I had this image of her from television, that maybe she was like 6, 7 feet tall, you know what I mean? (Carmen laughs) I though maybe she'd be just dancing on tables and going nuts. (Carmen laughs again) And I'll tell you, in answer to your question, that in walks this beautiful little - little princess. (cheering) Thank you - and um, you said "How do you know the magic?" When she walked in and I looked into her eyes I knew.
Ryan: So, alright-
Dave: It was trouble, I'll tell you that much.
Ryan: (to Carmen) Why would you go on a blind date? I'm sure you were hit on all the time by everybody.
Carmen: Well, I'd been single for a year because I'd been through a lot in my past relationships, and I just needed some time alond and I don't know, I just kept meeting people who would say "you know, Dave Navarro would be great for you. You guys would be so great together." So it just sort of sparked this curiosity-
Dave: And they were right. (kisses Carmen) I've never been happier, Ryan. Never been happier in my whole life.
Ryan: So I can tell. I mean, Rhoda and I are getting close but (laughing) isn't she great? gestures to an older woman in the audience)
Ryan: Hey Rhoda, isn't it nice to see the kides here just excited about the simple things in life?
Rhoda: That's the important things! Wonderful.
Ryan: What advice would you give Carmen and Dave so they can have a long, lasting relationship? Because I know you're an expert, you come from the Little White Chapel.
Rhoda: Just really love each other and listen to each other, communicate.
Ryan: And how important is the sex life Rhoda?
Rhoda: You be a good boy, we're not talking about the sex life. (Dave & Carmen laugh)
Ryan: We'll be right back with Carmen and Dave after this! (Carmen gets up and goes over to Rhoda, hugs her and tells her she's so sweet)
Ryan: Carmen Electra, Dave Navarro, with us on air! I mentioned a second ago the reality show you did for MTV, why did you want to do that? Because it really was a nice, interesting, compelling look at your life and relationship.
Carmen: (to Dave) You take this one honey.
Dave: I have no idea why we wanted to do it. (Laughs) You know, it was an idea that was brought to us and first we thought, let's not do that, it'll be evasive and intrusive and all that, but they're very persuasive over there. We decided to look at it as a way to document a really amazing time in oue lives, you know? And what we ended up having was cameras following us around for the preparation of the wedding and the wedding itself.
Ryan: Do people always ask you on the street about the wedding invitation shot?
Carmen: All the time.
Ryan: Explain it for those who didn't see it, because I saw it, and even I was said "What is that all about?"
Carmen: We shot our wedding invitation at a morgue, it was actually a pretend morgue, it wasn't a real morgue-
Ryan: But you were naked.
Carmen: We were naked.
Ryan: Which is why I watched. Even thpough your looked purple, I was still hooked. (Carmen & Dave laugh)
Carmen: Well we had David LaChapelle shooting the pictures and he's a creative genius, so we just put our trust into his hands and got some really cool pictures.
Dave: We kind of took the "Til Death Do Us Part" thing to the nth degree.
Ryan: Well you both have great bodies, that's what I gathered from that shoot.
Carmen : Thank you.
Dave: Thank you.
Ryan: (to Carmen) Something that I read in a magazine recently is that you're thinking about - this is such a weird thing to ask-
Carmen: Then why are you asking it?
Ryan: Well, I-
Carmen: No go on, I'm used to it.
Ryan: Well it's because I'm thinking it, that's why I want to ask...so you've had a breast augmentation-
(Dave picks up a water bottle and starts drinking)
Carmen: yes.
Ryan: And you recently thought about removing them?
(Dave spits out water he was drinking)
Dave: Wait a minute!
(Carmen, Ryan and audience laugh)
That's all I got so far, guys. Hope you enjoy it! It was a very cute interview.:-)

in my opinion PC name isn't fantastic, but i'm gonna get used to it. i'm really waiting for any new tunes. i love your jane's, decon, rhcp and solo work so i'm 100% sure your new stuff is gonna be fantastic :)
anyway - i've just put PC logo and name on my desktop.
thanx for all answers for lots of questions. i'm asking very rarely, but reading answers for lots of questions i feel like i've been asking.
i've got one question for you anyway: when do you expect new album may be released? like in December or later? and any chances for European spring tour. or should i plan my holidays to see you then?
have a nice weekend, you and Carmen

hey dave i just came across some of the pictures of a photoshoot you did for HoBo magazine... i have to say that i absolutely love them. They are so... honest, i guess, i know that sounds cheesy, but they really seem like you. I love the cigarette in the shower one... even if you cropped off a few inches of the bottom, i would still love it to death. i mean, cigarette in the shower? thats so rock, and thats so you. also i love the stairwell picture. man, i hopemy marriage is like that... ok anyway, just wanted to comment on those pictures, i think they're great. cant wait to hear the new music, and let's hear a big cheer for Carmen & Dave...

Dave, this is so sweet, for you to come on here, and write even when you are busy. I was really happy when I came back here, and you had written about the band name like you said you would. I like it, and the logo too.
I'm the one who had insomnia yesterday, and people thought I was a "dude smoking something". I just want to say, I don't do that stuff. Also, I'm a "dudette" too.
I was simply very excited to find this place, and also suffering from lack of sleep, and I wanted to put a lot into one post! I only asked about if you would ever teach guitar because I found as I have got older myself, and have a son who is 14, I feel more like it's a responsibilty to pass on knowledge.
Cheers

Would you consider changing the name, I think The Panic Channel Sucks.
Nobody will take that terrible name seriously, ugh, I know I can't.
Posted by: Pedro at July 31, 2004 09:09 PM
Whoa cool the jets there turbo... how are you gonna judge so harshly before you hear the music? How many bands have names that can be taken seriously on their own? Seriously...think about it...
Posted by: Abby at July 31, 2004 10:04 PM
maybe it would help if people said why they like the name Panic Channel, or why they don't like it?
because if you say something "sucks" then it helps if you have a reason you think that.
also, Dave why did you choose the name The Panic Channel?
Posted by: ylais at July 31, 2004 10:22 PM
Panic channel hugh? Hum, I dont really like it. owell u can't please eveyone :) its all about the music anyway. Hey dave do u or perkins surf? know perry does, I was curious if u guys ever jump in the ocean. What are your thoughts if any on the late Bob Marley?

Hey Dave, I saw Carmen on Leno a few months ago and she said some stuff about you that I thought was funny, and I had to confirm it. Are Carmen's claims that you are a metrosexual and that you spend more time in front of the mirror than she does true?
Posted by: americanzer0 at July 31, 2004 11:06 PM
THE ADDENDUM: Panic Channel...channeling the panic, the angst, the catharsis....the blues!....
of the soul...not necessarily as the defined sense of the blues though....
Posted by: robert skot mcmillan at July 31, 2004 11:19 PM
There's lots of reasons why I like the name of the band...
I like it because of all the possible meanings it could have (as exemplified on the TPC site at the bottom of the graphic). Because it has a nice flow and it's easy to remember... because the band name itself conjures all kinds of ideas for CD cover graphics in my head... and because I just plain think it's a damn cool name, and the more time that passes, the more certain I feel about that.
Dave... I really wouldn't care if you called the band FickleSnakeContraQuaffs... I'm still gonna be anxious to hear the music, I'm sure I'll quickly become a fan of the band, and I know I'm gonna support any project you undertake.
Maybe it's because I'm a musician... and I'm sure the other musicians here probably feel the same way... but the music's ultimately what's most important... that and the experience of being exposed to as many different types of music as possible...
I still think The Panic Channel is a kick-ass name... :)
Peace,
Tim

The panic channel?!?!?! Why don't you call it what it is, Dave? E! Dave, you are a rock guitar god.
Dave Navarro- Nothings Shocking- Wow. Who is this guy.
Dave Navarro - Ritual - This druggie can rock
Dave Navarro - RHCP - IS he in leather licking his hands in the video for warped?
Dave Navarro - Now- Can he still play like the guy behind the glasses. Not from what we've heard.

Hello fellow "Channellers"!
Have to say, Double up, that image is hilarious, every time I see the new logo, I will have that wanker Geoff Tate screeching in the back of my head, "Operation Mindcriiiiiiime"!
Dave, I'm sure Isaacs spent a lot of time on it and all, but it does look like Queensryche's logo...no worries, I'm buying your CD no matter what the logo or name is (Panic Channel is pretty cool BTW).

Posted by: Cynthia at August 1, 2004 07:39 AM
Dave, I really like the name - chaos in a controlled environment - cool. As someone else posted I really don't care about the name as long as the music rocks!
I can't believe someone on this board thinks you would consider changing the name because they don't like it - huh? What does it mean to take a band name seriously? Do the names A Perfect Circle or Siouxie & the Banshees have serious meaning? Their just band names that's all.
The music is all that really matters.
Keep on rocking Dave. Looking forward to the new music!

Best of luck with this new project...I just KNOW it will be huge.
