Dave, I remember in 1990 that you played in Mexico City with Jane's Addiction, and it was a legendary event, and here it was a rumor that some mexican bands (alterlatino bands) from the 90s like Maldita Vecindad and Caifanes have met Jthe band and maybe made friends with you and the band... In fact Maldita Vecindad appears in the Stop video... What you recall from that? Are you related to the latin rock scene? Any collaborations with mexican or latin rockers? Thanks for the inspirational music over the years. I’m a musician in my late 20’s. My guitar influences are of course your work with Janes along with Hendrix and Page and their styles/techniques. I came up on Rock and Classic Rock, but also pull influences from the trancy, effect driven genre that Massive Attack is known for. My favorite band will always be Janes though. The thing about those records that I still find intriguing is the style from track to track. The Cmaj7 scale jazz chords of Thank You Boys. The funk tempo of Pigs. Perk’s thundering drum changes on Obvious. The sheer spontaneity of Standing in the Shower etc. Raw energy. You guys hit it on the head. I agree that simplicity works and complexity is beautiful as well. It’s all about the current emotions you’re feeling.

A band I haven’t heard you talk about is Tool. Those guys have an amazing formula and continue to put out great records. They have a melodic, dissonant sound that builds and then finishes strong. Much like various Zep and your work on Three Days/ Then She Did. Stoked about the emerging Massive Attack meets rock concept in this respect.

What are your thoughts on Tool and would you guys ever enjoy working with Maynard on a track or two? I know Perks and Maynard both contributed to the RATM song “Know your enemy�. Kick ass.

Ok... last one..I went to see you/Jane's in San Diego this past summer Lolla tour and I had a VIP pass from another band and I ran into to this incredible looking woman who was wearing camo pants and a camo color green t-shirt with long straight brown hair, super tan and really nice. We were trying to figure out where to sit since we both had VIP passes and we couldn't go back stage etc. She was very well spoken, super sweet and very attractive from LA. She said she was a long time friend of Chris, and she was trying to call him on her cell phone. Is she married to Chris? ive taken a long hard look at myself now thanks to the tryhard down to earth condescending advice of will, and i really regret all those perry is god,i hate that dave wears fancy pants and is 10 years older than he was 10 years ago posts.what was i thinking?you really put me in my place , you know, making me realise that things i never wrote were wrong. you just dont get it. you see i never said dave was the only one at fault i just questioned theXtreme asskissing he was revcieving given that he really hasnt done anything that great and the most of what he has done that was kinda great was as 12.5% of someone elses greatness. now the stuff about daves appearence i dont get, i never begrudged his glitterpants or poofy hair but that doesnt mean i cant mock them after all he does wear the glitterpants and have poofy hair.and really, of perhaps all the people on the planet dave has changed the least in 10 years i mean aside from the big change from curtains to poodle hair and a brief dress&feathery thing phase he still looks and acts in the same image before music way he did since janes ended the first time. if your gonna reply then read what i actually wrote fool or else just dont bother.

Dave just rocks...I love the way he dresses, looks, sings, plays guitar, and w/e else. Any guy that would take the time out of his day to answer questions personally is a great guy in my book. Anyway...weird questions...after Til Death Do Us Part, did any of the Jane's CD's or your "TNO" cd start to sell more units or whatnot? It would be interesting to see if that happened. Anyways...much luck in the future, and glad to see you're doing so well.

PS: Your Trust No One cd was my life for like 2 months, after someone I knew really well and really cared about, turned his back on me and just left me out in the cold, and it got me through some really bad times, so thank you.

One of my questions is when you were younger like in H.S or in your'e early 20's did have low self-esteem or not liked yourself physically and if thats the reason why you started to work out? First, I think it is absolutely amazing the way you are connecting with people on this website. I thank God for the internet and the capability to be connected to people you would otherwise never have met.
Secondly, I have adored your musical genius since seeing you with Camp Freddy in NY a couple of years ago at the Rock The Vote thing. I consider that to have been a once in a lifetime concert. THANK YOU!

Ok here's my best question- Since all the labels are seemingly screwing talented artists right and left- why don't well to do musicians start their own label, sign the talent and treat them right? Eventually the "artists for artists" label will be signing the best acts and in order to compete other labels would have to work harder for their bands, treat them fairly and have a fairer distribution of profits??
