Birthdays Etc.

dave_spread_iconWell, now... I am amazed and touched by the support you guys have shown. Really very touching. Thank you all so much for your words and feedback. So much to address I don't know where to start. I suppose that I'll just say that this site is supposed to be a place where all four of us can interact with you all, so I probably have to do a little whip cracking to get Steve, Steve and Chris to snap to it.

So the edited book. It's still the same, I guess I should've pointed out that some names were changed to protect the innocent, but the bulk of the work was adding a current update, that's where the "ray of hope" comes in. Same stories, same darkness and the same year of life. For those looking for a dark and moody read, you can always just stop at a certain point, but it does get flowery when I clean up and get my life together. There are a lot of "tell all" books out there, but I guess I just felt that I have every right to tell all about myself, just not about others. Those are really the only differences between versions. I guess the main reason for even doing it at all is to provide some hope for anyone who feels that they can't get through something heavy, whether it be drug addiction, love lost, death or anything else for that matter.

We have had a busy week writing and recording, not to mention birthdays. My birthday was on the 7th of June, while Chaney's was on the 14th and Spooky's was on the 19th. Yes. There are three Geminis in this project. Poor Steve Perkins!

On June 29th I will be rocking with my boy Jay-Z on the BET awards. I am really looking forward to that. I love playing with different artists, particularly those who do a different type of music than I do. It makes me a better and more well rounded player I believe. Perhaps that explanation accounts for some of my decisions as of late. I just enjoy life, people and experiences. Art is art and I don't believe that there is anything anyone can do to make where their art came from less credible, provided it was honest to begin with.

So this new project will have a name, we are just waiting for copyright clearances and what not. I'd like to thank those who sent me some of the old content such as alphabet stuff and images. I actually lost all of it somewhere in cyberspace. Oh, and yes, to answer your question Soph X, the nipple rings definitely hurt. I am sometimes amazed that I got the other one done after knowing what the first one felt like!

I will check in soon and get to the other issues soon...

Dave

Cool, the BET awards are the day after my birthday.:-) Dave, do you have a fanmail address or anywhere I could you a letter? I always wanted to, but I could never find one. It's okay if you don't though, I know you're busy. I'm excited about the BET awards now.:-)

I don't have BET (I live in Vancouver Canada) :(! Oh well, someone will tape it for me! I also don't have MTV, so I never got to see the reality show! I wanted to ask you Dave what it was like being a part of a reality show. I know if it were me, I'd just be annoyed with having my details just out there for everyone to see! I'm so happy this site is up, thanks Dave! Makes us fans feel really appreciated. :)

Dave,
Thank-you for being such an awesome role model. Your charity work and outlook on life is incredible. I hope your newest music venture is a brilliant success!

Hey Dave, my boyfriend Angel wants to know what kind of guitar effects you use? He says to tell you he loves your paul reed smith and your vuitton strap, which I've been trying to find everywhere to suprise him with and can't. Your Jay-Z bit is gonna be hot, we'll be looking for you for sure, Also he says your mtv show was way hotter than Nick and Jessica....and your guitar playing is kick ass!! I should've just let him write this huh....Take Care and God Bless you both

It´s great to know that everything is kinda working itself out. You, Scott and John Frusciante are very different people but connected in some way. I am very happy that you all put your life together and concentrated on creating music. U provide us with good energy and there is not much more to ask. I´m excited!!!

Dave,

Looking forward to seeing you on BET. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to record an album with a Hip Hop artist or group? Artists' like N.E.R.D, Eminem and the Beastie Boys clearly have a rock influence in their music. Even Nas recorded a song with Korn. Just askin'

Hi yo Dave...

I've got a question for you... about Jane's Addiction compositional process...

The use of the mixolidyan mode, on many songs, was PREMEDITATED? Like "Yeah, let's play something in mixolidyan mode"... or it just came up and became a signature "just like that"?

Ty Dave, happy b-day, keep rocking with as many people as u can! :D

I took my nipple rings out they got snagged on a wetsuit..

But anyway that's great you're playing with Jay-Z. I like when muscians I respect play with artists they normally don't it just shows they like to make music and they do it for the fun of doing it.

This is nice and all Dave, but drop the steaming pile about this new project and spill it about what happened between Perry and you three. JA is where you Perky & Chaney belong. You guys were starting to get tight again. So my question, is what happened? I really could care less about what you do with a snack cracker t-shirt wearing talentless turd. I've heard this guys stuff.

Its brilliant that the site is up again! Is there anything that i can look forward to? Being in England means you miss out on all of the good tv/radio appearances... apart from MTV.

I dont know if anyone feels the same, but i feel that Dave's work with the chili peppers was brilliant, and it seems that One Hot Minute has been completely overlooked by most, but I remember ages ago(97?)there was talk of "new" material being recorded, like "circle of the noose". I dont know whether im going mad/being lied to/or just stupid but will we ever get a chance to hear any of those songs, even in demo form? Or have i just missed it?

Mr. Navarro you are a very talented, i admire you a lot... sorry if im being a pain in the ass.

You think getting the nipple rings hurt... wait til someone gets rather overenthusiastic and rips one out!
Anyway, while Im aware were being spoiled with the book, website, TV show etc a new solo album would be nice too...

i saw you at the san diego lolla last year. you were amazing. your definatly my favorite guitarist.
thanks for all the music.

Dave,

I tried to find your book a couple of years ago. I made the mistake of going to Barnes & Noble. They said that it was out of print, and that I might find it at a used book shop. Needless to say I am happy that it was just delayed a bit. Have fun with Jay-Z and give a little something extra in his groove.

Cheers!

hey dave good to see that your taking over the net again we missed you. I was just curious did you have like a fanmail type of thing going by any chance? something by the ways of email or snail mail?..thanks! best of luck with everything you do!

I agree with the poster above, that Dave's work with the RHCP was amazing...it took the band to whole new level in my opinion and really expanded their sound, not to mention, I believe that it also expanded Dave's horizon. I love the fact that Dave plays with so many genres. It shows a real love for music. I definitely believe that he is one of the best guitar players of all time. Rolling Stone should be shot. Not only did they leave Dave off the "100 greatest guitarists" list, they omitted slash, and put Jack White above Frank Zappa.

Dave, you absolutely rule!!

Well I don't know but did they even put Ler from Primus on there? That guy is amazing. He's so creative it baffles me.

Hey Dave,

I'm really glad all's well in your life, I wish my outlook on life was as clear as yours.

Hey Dave,

it's me again. I was just wondering, wat type of style is your hair? It's great!

Shane

Posted by: Shane at June 21, 2004 11:37 PM

while were on that topic, What stuff do you use on your hair, gel, wax, mouse and do you just stick to a certain brand. i just cant work out.

Posted by: Spaden at June 22, 2004 02:55 AM

I agree with blondimofo.

Your work wth the chili peppers is my faverite to and some of the sounds you get out of your guitar like on "faling into grace" are so weird and hypnotic

Posted by: Oli at June 22, 2004 02:58 AM

ooh... Soph X... makes me sound like some kind of comic-book villain or something. I'll now resist the urge to squeal like an idiot to the fact you replied to one of my stupid comments. (:

Anyway, back to the throes of boring schoolwork.

Damnit, you must visit the UK sometime... Autumn (Fall?) can be very musically boring after everyone's cleaned up after the festivals and stuff.
